This is a fine bronze monument of the martyred president, delivering his inaugural address. The three recumbent figures at the base represent him as student, warrior, and statesman. It was erected by his comarades of the Army of the Cumberland, May 12, 1887, and stands at the Maryland Avenue entrance to the Capitol grounds. 186 Das Garfield Denkmal und das Kapitol in Washington, D.S., Ber.
